Always a cool place to drop by and grab a drink. They usually party all day long. Live music or good tunes on the stereo. You can get a drink, and enjoy a smoke, while watching the tourists. This place is a Hilton Head institution. A few years back, it was almost torn down, but there was a big campaign to save the place.

Wasn't even busy and waited 20 minutes and a waitress never showed up. Even after 10 minutes I waked up to her to ask if it was ok if we just sat anywhere or if we needed to be seated. So just left!

When it's hot and you want to eat outside The Tiki Hut works. Service was great and food was fine for lunch. Burgers were charred (no medium rare here). Good fries and a fun atmosphere. Catch a volleyball game and enjoy a drink. Nothing too special but definitely adequate for a good beach lunch!

Don't let it scare you that it's at the Holiday Inn this is a terrific spot with live music every day. The bartenders are busy all the time stare at the ocean and her volleyball players playing it is a bit crowded but it's a good local find and great music.

WAY FUN! Loved having a cocktail listening to the live music at the Tiki Hut. Drinks were yummy and the music was great!

This place is a Hilton Head institution. Great spot on the beach to hang out get a drink and listen to live music right on the beach. The service is a little slow but the atmosphere makes up for it. Grab a drink, listen to the band, watch the waves and relax.

Great place for live music and it is right on the beach. If you go and sit at an open table, don't wait for a waitress, you want see one for a long time, so just go to the bar and purchase a drink, much easier and they like your tips as much as as the ghost wait staff.

Drinks were excellent but save yourself some money and just order the 72oz drink for $40 first. The view is absolutely great and the staff couldn't be friendlier!!

I just recently vacationed on Hilton head Island and of course had to hit the tiki hut. I had been here before several years ago and remembered how good the drinks are. They make all kinds of speciality drinks that are quite delicious! Live music not the greatest band... not awful though. The best thing is It is an actual little Tiki hut right off the beach very tropical feeling and cute and the bartenders are very attentive. We had no problem getting a seat at the bar due more then likely to a very chilly day, However made the best of it and had a great day! Highly recommended; )

First time to Tiki Hut and it was just what I needed. It is right on the beach so attire is extremely casual or a swimsuit is fine. I went during the day so I think its the kinda place you go when you want a relaxed atmosphere or need something to eat while you are at the beach. The drinks are really good and the food is just mediocre but its still good enough to eat when you just need a snack. The drinks are not the best quality but the flavor is good and perfect for the vibe. I didn't see any kids. It had a very adults only kinda atmosphere which was cool because there are not a lot of places like that. They have a live performer with a schedule for who is the AM and PM performers for the day. Its nice to have music, sip, snack, people watch, and enjoy the ocean and some sun. Perfect atmosphere for the beach. I like this place...just don't come looking for the Ritz at the Holiday Inn and you will be pleased. :-) Lastly, parking was pretty easy. $5 to park in the Holiday Inn Resort Lot and the staff was helpful and friendly.

Cool location, but count your change if you get Stephani as your server. She decided to take her tip from my change without telling me. As a result of not knowing, I gave her a tip before she walked away, as I didn't want to leave money on the table for obvious vacation theft and/or beach wind reasons. As I placed the 20% tip in her hand and thanked her for her service, her look told me everything. I looked down to count my cash and I was short by exactly 20%. She was double tipped without my consent. She has a black and red heart tattoo the size of a grapefruit on the back of her calf. The money is not the concern. If it were I would've confronted her and asked for a manager. Instead, she should enjoy that tip and the attention she will receive. I hope it was worth it. For the record, I have never been here before, so it's not like we have a past or I have a name around town as being a low/no tipper. In fact, I was only in town for one night one my way up north. Management should keep a watchful eye as someone who looks for weakness in the system isn't likely to only be skimming cream off the tops of guest checks, I would consider missing alcohol, discounts to friends, how tips are distributed and the like.

Great location, but I agree with one of the more recent customers, HIGHLY understaffed!! We were there a couple of hours before the waitress came around! We finally went next door to "The Porch" and ordered much better food-the tiki bar is definitely not utilizing their potential!!

  • Katrina L.

Rather pricey - we had the beach ball drinks, which I believe were $8 or 9 a drink. However, they tasted good and seemed to have a lot of alcohol in them. We came a little late so the bar wasn't serving food but we were able to walk to the pool area right next door and get some shredded pork nachos to go- which were actually delicious.

I've been to the Tiki Hut a few times while on vacation. Each time has been fun, cause you really, and shouldn't be, in a bad mood when there is the beach a mere footstep away, a cold drink in your hand, a breeze blowing by and live music playing. This isn't a place where you should expect gourmet food, its a place where you can take a break from tanning on the beach, pack up your towels and walk over for a refreshing alcoholic beverage. I've never had a complaint about the service and they seem to know to not hover over customers and let us babysit our drinks if we wish. There are showers on the planks before you enter the hut where you can wash off sand so it doesn't mix into your food and drinks which is nice. I've never had food here, just drinks which really vary depending on the bartender. I was a little sad that they didn't have this bourbon lemonade that I had on a visit several years ago, which was really strong and nice.

Nice to be on the beach. Highly understaffed. Slow service. Just ok food. I had the green salad with shrimp. At $17, I expect something decent. The lettuce was wilted with bits of spoiled blackness in it. The raspberry vinaigrette dressing was overly sweet. The drinks were watered down and uninspired. Will not be back.

I was at the bar by the volleyball court around 8:30pm on 6/10/15 as designated driver with a group of friends who were all buying alcoholic drinks and I told the bartender that I don't drink and he told me that "i was in the wrong place" and he threatened to ban me from "his bar" and told me that my presence was essentially costing him money. The regular customers told me "yes, he's an a** h*le" ... Well, obviously ! Maybe a hurricane will take "his bar" out to sea one day ! It's a nice location and a great atmosphere but the drinks are expensive enough so there is no need to tip at this place and reinforce bad behavior. On a positive note, if you're tired of all the annoying southern hospitality on the island and want to feel like you're comfortably back home in Ohio than this is the place for you !

I was looking for a bar right on the beach and my wife found this place... we just followed the music. we just came for drinks so I can't say anything about their food but if you are looking for a cold drink in your hand right on the beach than tiki bar is the place. drinks were not over priced and service was ok.

The view is amazing from this restaurant. Service was just ok. Overall, they didn't really pay much attention to my coworker and me. The drinks were also just ok. Lastly, almost every table someone was smoking. It's hard to enjoy the beach when people are puffing up and ruining the clean ocean air. I would go back for the view.

Great atmosphere. Watch people play cornhole, volleyball on the beach. And they had live music. Bummer was they ran out of tank tops to sell. I would've bought one ...drinks were good as well as boneless wings . Fun place

Great Tiki Hut party last night. The band Silicone Sisters was on the mark and rocked out. The pole dancer was amazing, she was no stripper but a full fledged athlete. Drinks were excellent and the bar and Waite staff was easily handling the crowd.

3 stars because its on the beach and they had a decent band. Put this place in a building and it would be a dive.

Ice cold drinks with generous pours just steps from the beach and pool. They keep a nice breeze circulating through the bar area too. Perfect place to take a break from the heat!

First off, you have to understand: The Tiki Hut is not the spot for gourmet food or even staple food of the island. The Tiki Hut however is the spot for a quick bite when you're spending most of the day on the beach, don't want to leave, and didn't pack a picnic. Even better if you don't have kids! Or perhaps it's just better for the other guests if you don't have kids... In any case, the Tiki Hut is more bar than restaurant, though I've enjoyed a couple burgers there. I especially love that you can substitute french fries with watermelon! The french fries are tasty, but I had to cut calories somewhere... The first time I tried the Tiki Hut was on vacation with my boyfriend. Our condo was down the road, and our almost daily schedule was something along these lines: Walk to the beach, tan, swim, tan, swim, tan, tiki hut for lunch, tan, swim, tan, tiki hut for drinks, tan, swim, tan, tiki hut for cocktail hour... Vacation is hard... They have a limited drink menu of tasty specialty drinks, plus the usual fixin's for the classic beachside cocktails, and a healthy selection of beer. The service is relaxed - not phenomenal, but I wouldn't say it was less than you'd expect at a beachside tiki bar. If you want very attentive service, I recommend sitting at the bar. I actually loved this place BECAUSE it wasn't fancy. I'm sure to stop by there again at least twice when I'm on the beach on the island as it's so convenient and casual. If a squall looks like it's blowing it, it's also fun to run to the Tiki Hut to sit at the bar and watch the storm pass, if you don't mind getting a little wet (after all, you were swimming just minutes before, right?). They often have fun events at night too, with great entertainment. I'm surprised that others on here are complaining about the price, then recommending Pool Bar Jim's. Having been to and enjoyed both places, I can tell you Pool Bar Jim's (Pool Bar Jim's) give you larger drinks, but it's more expensive and they're not as strong and mostly frozen or blended. The Tiki Hut's drinks are stronger by far, also tasty, and there's less of a wait. PBJ's normally has a long line since most of their drinks are blended, and frankly their portions are so large that unless you're splitting them, you're too full to try a second drink after your first. I do recommend both, but Tiki Hut is my favorite by far: Casual, fun, tasty, and great location!

How does this place only have 27 reviews? Staff is very cool, especially Fith and the bartenders. Good bar menu. Prices are great especially considering they make a damn good cocktail, plus, they've got the only little strip of beach on the island that you can drink on. I checked out maybe 3 other bars while in Hilton Head because there was no reason to leave this one.

Cool place to hang out and drink on the beach. Friendly people, bartenders are fun and easy going. Drinks are a little pricey though and weak.

Don't bother. We came here for one beer each and a marg. marg was weak, beer was warm, and service was lamesauce. Not headed back.

We ended up here for drinks at night. Bartenders were good and attentive, live music was good. Would be a great spot during the day, right on the beach.

As a break from our bike ride my party of 4 vacationers stopped at the tiki hut for cold drinks and to listen to the great nostalgic music we could hear from outside. The music brought us back to our college years. The waitress brought out waters for all immediately once we were seated. All but one ordered frozen drinks. The other ordered an ice cold Pinot Grigio which was not recommended so she switched to Chardonnay at the advice of the waitress. The frozen drinks were not watered down and were refreshing but tasted like premixed variety. The waitress brought out Pinot Grigio any way. It was not cold and ice had to be added from the water. We decided to order food. I ordered the Asian salad and it cam with half of the ingredients from the menu missing. When I questioned it the waitress said I was wrong. She offered to bring out chicken or fish which was an additional up charge. I said I expected som sort of protein as part of the meal. She walked away. The other meals, burgers an other salads were as ordered but not special.

Its a great spot with island drinks and bar food. If you expect more you shouldn't be here. Full volleyball court and plenty of TVs. The cocktails are little pricey but you're on the beach and on vacation so it all makes sense. They also have some branded drinks with Sailor Jerry Rum which wasn't all too bad either. Wait staff was fun and definitely enjoy their jobs. A must visit if youre looking to sit back and enjoy the beach and have a couple drinks.

We've been coming to Hilton Head during Labor Day week for 20 years. As part of our vacation ritual we hit the Tiki Hut every single day. Sometimes it's difficult to get waited on (or even find a seat) during that week, but we're patient... we're on vacation for heavens sake! But the place needs 2 bartenders every, single day of Labor Day week and that didn't seem to happen this year. Come Thursday, there was only 1 bartender there and he could barely keep up - and I'm pretty sure he's your longest tenured bartender (Derek)... if he can't keep up nobody can! I know these are relatively new owners... listen to your long term bartenders... if they think you need 2 bartenders, you probably do. Just because the hotel isn't full, doesn't mean the Hut won't be. We don't stay at the Holiday Inn... but we're still there everyday. We love the Tiki Hut!

I didn't have a very good experience here and I don't think I'll be back gain. It could have earned higher marks if the food wasn't so so terribly bad. You have to try to make food this bad and then of course it's pricey. The bar was okay but not great. What might make this a good stop is if you are not eating food and you want to play volleyball and get drinks from the bar.

I see red necks! Everywhere! I agree with the virgin drinks. There was barely a drop of alcohol in my plastic cupped margarita. The bartender was a douche bag too.

Touristy but still delivers a great time. We brought a large cake with a large group of people. They found us cutlery and plates for our group! Thanks Tiki!!

The drinks and service are not great- but overlook that (order a corona) everything else is perfect - right on the beach atmosphere: tiki hut, music, pool, lots of people, Volleyball. They have ice and a big water cooler right on the corner of the bar. Drink plenty of water.

I had the privilege of being at the famous Tiki Hut yesterday for a few hours! I think it should promptly be renamed The TIKI HOT!!!! The drinks are as plentiful as the beautiful people! Looking for a refreshing drink..try the Watermelon. Yep...just tell the bartender..."I'll have the watermelon!" The experience was rounded out with live music. I love to be outside and this is a perfect place to take in some eye candy, delicious drinks and sweet melodies!

Good location and good drinks if youre wanting virgin drinks for the cost of high dollar alcoholic ones. If you dont like this, like me, dont ask the waoitress for more alcohol or youll get a lecture that frozen drinks arent supposed to be strong. Really? Because Im pretty sure a shot of alcohol is a shot of alcohol whether it goes in to a blender or on ice.

  • Julie N.

A fun outdoor atmosphere, if you like to enjoy your drinks outdoors and don't mind paying a little extra for the drinks this is the place for you! Wait until the band starts up at Happy Hour and sit back and enjoy the music!

  • Barbara R.

The drinks were delicious! However, I wasn't to impressed by the service. My boyfriend and I set down and started looking over the drink menu, the one guy behind the bar handed us a printed menu, then once we decided after a few minutes, he never came back to us. They kept helping everyone around us & we had to flag them down.

Not sure why people bash this place. It's my favorite place to sit on the island. Always good cocktails and friendly service. Cliff is a rock star and so is Laci. Talk sports with Terry Hall. With regard to ELLE MARIE's post above, JOANN is the MANAGER not the bartender. She runs in and out all the time doing paperwork, etc. She gets there at 6am and works very long hours.

boyfriend wrote the prior review, and i suspected he probably trashed this place...that said, i grew up coming to hilton head every 3 day weekend (or longer) we got, and the tiki hut will always hold a special place in my heart... the location is awesome, right on the beach by the public access at coligny (although it is part of a holiday inn thats super gross..at least from the outside), and after supporting the 'save the tiki hut' when per usual people wanted to buy the holiday inn and tiki hut to bulldoze them and build condos, i will continue to support the tiki hut since its survival....that said, yes the drinks are virgin and overpriced, but its a tourist trap, so what can you expect?? although i guess with holiday inn value would come to mind...

Good location, awesome drinks, and some hot chicks hanging out while I got my drink on.... Life is good.
